Fernando Torres World Cup boost

Fernando Torres is optimistic about his chances of being fully fit for the start of the World Cup.

The Spain striker, whose agent has stressed wants to stay at Liverpool next season, underwent an operation on torn cartilage in his right knee in April.

However, the 26-year-old insists he will be available for Spain's opening match against Switzerland on 16 June.

Torres, who also had surgery on the knee in January, said: "I'm very well, happy with the progress. Since January I've had two operations, and that isn't easy."
