Who is Victor Lindelof? What you need to know about Chelsea's defensive transfer target

Standard Sport takes a closer look at the Sweden defender who is attracting interest from the Blues.

The new Premier League season may be just a few days away, but Chelsea are continuing to focus their efforts on the recruitment of new players - with defender Victor Lindelof in their sights.

Blues coach Antonio Conte has already signed striker Michy Batshuayi and midfielder N'Golo Kante, and is believed to be interested in Brazilian midfielder Thiago Maia from Santos.

The club also want Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly, but have identified Benfica defender Lindelof as a back-up option.

Lindelof, 22, is a versatile player who has risen through the ranks for his national team Sweden to earn his place in the team's Euro 2016 squad, where he started all three group games.

His current contract at Benfica expires in 2020, but it is thought he has a £25million release clause in his deal with the Portuguese side.

What else, though, do fans need to know about Lindelof? Watch Standard Sport's video above to find out more about the defender who is attracting the attention of Chelsea...
