West Ham United have completed the signing of Italian defender Angelo Ogbonna for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old former Juventus defender has signed a four-year contract at Upton Park and is the third signing of the transfer window for West Ham. He joins Pedro Obiang as the second player to move from Serie A to east London.

Ogbonna was a two-time Italian champion during his spell at Juventus and the centre-back also established himself in the national squad, having been named in the 23-man squad for Euro 2012 prior to his move to Turin.

However he struggled to overtake the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci and Ogbonna is keen to make the most of the first-team opportunities at West Ham, who are believed to have paid a fee in the region of £10 million for the defender.

He told the club website: "I am delighted to have joined the Club. I wanted to play in the Premier League and am happy to be in London. My heart told me that the right decision was to play for West Ham United.

“I cannot wait to start working under Mr Bilic and with my new team-mates. I feel ready for this new adventure.”
