Dimitri Payet has refused to rule out a West Ham exit as soon as January after the Hammers disappointing start to the season.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough left Payet’s side in 16th place in the Premier League after just three wins and two draws from their opening 11 games.

Payet has long been coveted by the likes of Paris St Germain and Real Madrid, with the club claiming to have rejected a £100m bid for the 29-year-old during the summer. Since then the club’s player of the year has continued his fine form, scoring two goals and laying on another five, but he may still be tempted away.

“We’ve had a very poor start,” he told Telefoot. “Leave in January? I’m asking other questions right now but I’ve closed the door to nothing.”

Payet added: “Until now, I always chose my clubs depending on the sports project. I work like that. Until I can play at a level like this, it will be the case.

“Go to PSG or Marseille? For now, they have not come to me, so I do not ask myself.”

The France international signed a five-and-a-half year contract in February, just a few months after joining the club, that made him the highest paid player at West Ham on around £125,000-a-week.
