Emmanuel Adebayor has asked the Tottenham fans to be patient with the team after they prevailed in another close encounter at White Hart Lane.

Speaking after scoring the winner in Tottenham’s 1-0 victory over Everton, Adebayor admitted the home side were disappointed that they are struggling to score goals this season, but urged fans to get behind them.

He said: “We want to be winning games 3-0 but we want the fans to be patient. It’s not going our way at the moment.”

Adebayor was pleased that he was able to seize his opportunity to hit the decisive goal and boost morale within the Spurs squad.

The victory lifts Tottenham above Sunday's opponents and top-four rivals Everton.

He said: “The ball was great, the control was not bad and I had one choice – to finish with my left foot. I am very happy for the team and winning the goal was important for confidence.

“We kept calm, we knew we had the quality to make a breakthrough and we did in the end.”
