We've got to start again, says Jay DeMerit

Watford must go back to the drawing board, according to captain Jay DeMerit after their 1-0 defeat to Derby.

"We never got going," admitted DeMerit, who was making his first start since August after having eye surgery. "We're disappointed with the way we played and we have to get back to the drawing board."

Neil Warnock revealed half his Crystal Palace squad were struck down by illness ahead of his return to Sheffield United, but had no complaints about the 2-0 defeat.

Warnock said: "The best team won, we weren't good enough. It's disappointing but five of my players have got sickness and diarrhoea."

Brentford manager Andy Scott laughed off complaints from Leeds boss Simon Grayson following their 0-0 draw. Scott said: "I think Simon's clutching at straws if he's trying to blame the pitch."

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett hailed striker Steve Morison after his two goals secured a 2-1 win over Walsall. He said: "Steve's got pace and power and is starting to go on a run now."

Leyton Orient boss Geraint Williams was left fuming after their 2-1 defeat at home to MK Dons.

He said: "We don't score enough and are conceding too many."

Ian Hendon warned his Barnet side there could be sales in January after a 2-1 home defeat against Crewe. He said: "If they keep doing it they will be out."

Dagenham maintained their promotion push with a 3-1 win at home to Bury.
