Watford defender Craig Cathcart says new training ground rules implemented by manager Quique Sanchez Flores, such as making the players eat together, are unifying the squad in their fight for Premier League survival.

Flores has returned to Watford for a second stint in charge after guiding the club to Premier League safety back in 2016.

The Hornets go in search of a first League win of the season tomorrow against Bournemouth and Cathcart said: “I think he (Flores) is trying to get that same unity [when he was first here].

“He has made a couple of changes with the rules. Nothing major, just things like (banning) mobile phones around the place and when we eat together we all eat at the same time, not in drips and drabs.

“It just sort of brings everyone together. We are all eating at the same time and especially with no mobile phones at dinner time you have to talk to each other, which is always helpful.

“It took a couple of dinner times for us to get used to it again. I caught a couple of the younger lads with their phones out and just told them to put it away.

“They are just little simple things to try and bring us all together. I think it is the way his style is and I think it has been working.”
