Watford are the first Premier League side to invite their fans to design and vote on the club’s new crest.
Working alongside project partner, Talenthouse, the Hornets want to see if one of their supporters or followers round the world can design a crest to replace the current logo.
The opportunity is open globally to those who are at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of primary residence at the time of submission.
Entries must be made by July 17 at which point a panel of 20 Watford fans - which anyone can apply to join - will work together with the club to narrow all the submissions down to a final choice of a maximum of five new designs, plus the existing badge, for a vote.
That final shortlist will be announced on August 14, with fans voting for their favourite from September 3. An announcement about the winner will be made on September 23.
Watford are the club in the top-flight to start such a scheme and finalists will receive £2,000 each as commission.
The eventual winner will receive an additional £8,000 for transferring the rights in their badge range to the club, while they could also meet the Watford team and be rewarded with a season ticket.
Crucially, however, supporters could still elect to vote for the existing badge to remain in place as that will be an option in the final voting.
The news, which was announced on Friday, comes just as Watford have reached an agreement with Coingaming for its sport betting brand, Sportsbet.io, to become the club’s new front of shirt partner from the beginning of the 2019-20 season.
It is the club’s largest ever sponsorship deal.
