Walter Mazzarri, a reported candidate to take over at Watford, has lived in England since last June with a view to managing in the Premier League.

The former Sampdoria, Napoli and Inter Milan manager moved to Manchester to learn English and is being linked with taking over from Quique Sanchez Flores.

Mazzarri, a 54-year-old Italian, has been without a job since he was sacked by Inter in November 2014 and is keen to work in England.

Watford travel to Norwich tonight before they finish the season with a home game against Sunderland on Sunday.

Flores, who has a break clause in his two-year contract which can be activated in the summer, appears resigned to his fate.

The Hornets began the season well and were as high as seventh place on Boxing Day but the team's form has dipped during the second half of the campaign.

Just four wins have been secured since the turn of the year yet the club could still secure a top-10 finish if they win their final two games.
