Arsene Wenger has denied that Alexis Sanchez has asked to leave Arsenal, adding that the forward could yet sign a new contract.

The 28-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates and is attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, Juventus, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

It is understood that Sanchez would seek wages in excess of £400,000 a week.

But amid speculation that he is looking to leave the club, Wenger insists that Sanchez could yet extend his current deal.

Asked whether the Chile international had asked to leave the club, Wenger simply replied “No”.

"The easiest way to manage the players in the final year of their contracts is it's in his interest to do as well as he can," he said.

"Nobody knows today if Sanchez will be in the final year of his contract next season because he can as well extend his contract with us at the start of the season or during the season.

"It's not necessarily the last year of his contract at Arsenal Football Club."

The Gunners boss was speaking at a press conference in Sydney, Australia, after the club arrived for the first part of its pre-season tour.
