Tottenham striker Harry Kane says he has been keeping an eye on the form of Golden Boot rival Romelu Lukaku ahead of the Premier League run-in.

Kane won the award last season, courtesy of a 25-goal haul, but is only second in the current standings, having missed a total of eight games through injury.

Lukaku leads the way with 24 goals - four more than Kane - after hitting a purple patch during the Spurs star's recent spell on the sidelines.

The Belgian has scored 12 goals in his last 10 appearances and is on course to claim the prestigious accolade if his stellar form continues.

But Kane is refusing to concede defeat and is hopeful he can overhaul his rival during the final six games of the campaign.

“It’s hard not to," Kane told Tottenham's official website when asked whether he has been keeping tabs on Lukaku's form.

"As a striker you want to be top scorer in the league, no doubt about it.

"Lukaku has been doing well and it’s a good competition but the main thing is we're winning games.

“I’ve a little eye on the run-in and if I can get a few more, we’ll see what happens."

Just two of Tottenham's remaining games are against sides in the top half of the table (Manchester United and Arsenal).

Mauricio Pochettino's side have rarely slipped up against the division's lesser sides, which could give Kane a platform for success.

Meanwhile, Gunners forward Alexis Sanchez is also in the running, having scored 19 goals in 31 top-flight appearances for Arsene Wenger's side.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero have all scored 17 goals.
