New Tottenham Stadium: Saracens strike five-year deal to play matches at Spurs ground

Tottenham have reached an agreement with Saracens to stage their annual ‘Big Game’ at the club’s new £1billion stadium for the next five years.

The reigning domestic champions have hosted the Premiership fixture at both Wembley and London Stadium — they took on Harlequins there last month before a crowd of 42,717 — but will now play at Spurs’ 62.062-seat ground instead.

Tottenham play their first senior fixture at the ground tomorrow, against Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The ground already has a long-term partnership with the NFL to hold regular-season games, and it will now host rugby too.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said: “This agreement with Saracens further reinforces our aspiration to deliver a world-class multi-use venue in our home of Tottenham.

“To attract one of world rugby’s biggest club sides will bring a new audience to the area, as well as help drive significant benefits for businesses and local people.

"We look forward to welcoming Saracens and their fans to Tottenham and delivering world-class rugby matchday experiences.”

Saracens chairman Nigel Wray added: “As someone brought up at White Hart Lane, for me and Saracens it’s a really special opportunity for us to partner our fellow north Londoners, who share so many of our core values.”
