Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed an interest in signing Christian Eriksen but says there has been no contact with Tottenham.
Eriksen is out of contract in the summer and able to discuss a free transfer with overseas clubs this month.
Spurs would prefer to sell the playmaker outright, with the club willing to listen to offers of £20million and boss Jose Mourinho admitting Eriksen could leave this month, despite starting the last three matches.
The Denmark international has repeatedly stalled on signing a new Spurs contract which would make him one of the club's top earners because he wants a new challenge and a lifestyle change at a southern European club.
Marotta told Sky Italia: "Often important players are linked to us. Eriksen is an excellent player whose contract expires in June and we have had no contact with Tottenham. I still believe that there are many teams interested in him and we have not started any kind of negotiations.

"I simply say that he is an important and interesting player. We are looking for a midfielder and a winger. We are having several contacts with companies and agents to try to improve this group."
Mourinho initially resisted starting Eriksen, saying he would pick his teams based on "a perspective of the future", but the 27-year-old has proved difficult to drop since scoring a fine free-kick in the 2-2 draw at Norwich last month.
