Harry Kane is the most valuable player in world football, according to the latest transfer market analysis by the CIES Football Observatory.

Tottenham striker Kane is valued at £177million by the CIES algorithm, made up of 19 variables including on-field performance, a player’s club, contract duration and age, just ahead of Paris Saint-Germain duo Neymar (£172m) and Kylian Mbappe (£150m).

Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah round out the top five, with Kane’s Spurs team-mate Dele Alli the only other player valued at over £150m.

Indeed Tottenham have a trio of stars valued at over €100m (£88m) by the CIES algorithm, with Eden Hazard (£110m) the only other London-based player with a similar price tag. Of all 20 players worth over €100m 12 ply their trade in the Premier League, with the remainder coming from PSG, La Liga giants Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona and Juventus.

Daniel Levy’s policy of continuously rewarding his stars with lengthy, improved contracts has only served to enhance their value in the transfer market, though it is highly unlikely that Spurs would consider selling Kane even if an offer of £177m came in.

Spurs have six stars in the CIES top 100, with Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Heung-min Son all valued at over £79m, whilst Chelsea have five and Arsenal four.

Rounding out Chelsea’s quintet behind Hazard are Alvaro Morata (£80m) N’Golo Kante (£73m), Antonio Rudiger (£66m) and Tiemoue Bakayoko (£62m).

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the Gunners’ most valuable star at £84m, considerably more than the £56m they paid Borussia Dortmund for him in January. Granit Xhaka (£59m), Shkodran Mustafi (£52m) and Mesut Ozil (£48m) are also in the top 100.
