Tottenham hope to raise the capacity of their new stadium to 62,000 after submitting an application to Haringey Council.
Spurs aim to move into their new ground – a project costing about £800million – from the start of next season, after spending this term playing ‘home’ fixtures at Wembley.
If the proposal is accepted, the new venue will contain 441 more seats, as the previously expected capacity was 61,559.
"The Club has applied to Haringey Council to increase the capacity at our new stadium up to 62,000," a brief statement on Twitter read.
"We shall provide an update on this application as soon as we have further information."
Tottenham’s new ground is also set to host one NFL fixture in 2018, with Oakland Raiders taking on Seattle Seahawks on October 14.
Speaking to fans earlier in January, Daniel Levy insisted a summer 2018 opening remains on schedule.
"I am very confident, and I wouldn't be sitting here today otherwise, saying that the season we are about to enter in August, we will be playing our games here from the start of next season," he said.
