Thibaut Courtois: Chelsea never look at Tottenham's results but we still want Spurs to drop points

Thibaut Courtois insists Chelsea have not been keeping tabs on Tottenham's winning run in the league, but admits he hopes the Blues' rivals drop points before the end of the season.

Spurs have maintained the pressure on leaders Chelsea by going on a nine-game winning streak that has left Mauricio Pochettino's side sitting just four points behind the Blues.

Despite the pressure from the north Londoners, Chelsea reacted to being beaten by Crystal Palace at home and by Manchester United away last month by defeating Southampton 4-2 in midweek and then securing a 3-0 victory over an in-form Everton side at Goodison Park on Sunday.

With four games left to play - three of which Chelsea will contest at Stamford Bridge - Courtois has now called on the Blues to focus only on their own title run-in although he hopes to see Tottenham drop points between now and May.

"We never look at Tottenham, of course we want them to drop points but the most important thing is to look at ourselves," the goalkeeper told Chelsea's official website.

"With Southampton at home and Everton away, Tottenham probably thought we would drop points, so to win both games is very significant.

"Now we just have to win our home games, that will be very important."

Chelsea's win against Everton was not made easy by the hosts, who came into the clash on Sunday having won their last eight Premier League matches at Goodison Park.

It took until the 66th minute for the visitors to break the deadlock, which they did through Pedro who fired in a superb goal which helped Conte's men on their way to a 3-0 win.

Courtois admits the result over Everton felt "significant" in Chelsea's charge for the title because of how tricky the game ended up being.

"It feels very significant," he said. "Everton won their last eight home games, they’ve been on a good run and they score a lot of goals so to keep a clean sheet, play well and win was good.

"In the first half we had some difficulties because [Idrissa] Gueye was following Eden [Hazard] everywhere so it was difficult to find space.

"In the second half Pedro scored a great goal and from that point we were able to control the game better. We scored a good second goal, although maybe it was a bit lucky, and a fantastic third, so it feels good.

"There aren’t many games left so obviously it’s a good win."
