Theo Walcott: This is the Arsenal team I've been waiting 10 years for

Top 10: Walcott thinks this is the best Arsenal side yet

Theo Walcott believes the current Arsenal side is the best of his ten years at the club.

The 26-year-old arrived in 2006 with the club only recently having moved on from the Invincibles era, and with the likes of Thierry Henry, Sol Campbell and Robin van Persie key names in an impressive squad.

The intervening decade has mostly been about near misses, with the FA Cup wins of 2014 and 2015 the only trophies collected in a period in which Arsene Wenger struggled to replace star names as the club dealt with the debt brought on through the building of the Emirates Stadium.

Recent years have seen Arsenal’s finances unburdened, allowing Wenger to bring in the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Petr Cech in a bid to add quality to his championship-chasing squad.

Walcott believes it has paid off in style and is convinced that the current side can be on course for a Premier League title.

“This is the team I've been waiting to be part of,” he told Sky Sports.

“It was only a point, but in the past, in games like Stoke, we would have failed to deliver, now we're not getting pushed away.

“A big club like Arsenal should be winning lot more than we have but we have to look to the present. We've won two FA Cups in the past two seasons, now we want the big one.”

Arsenal head into today’s clash with Chelsea trailing league leaders Leicester by three points with a game in hand.
