Theo Walcott hopes Arsenal face Barcelona in the Champions League knock-out stages as he wants revenge for being dumped out of the competition by the Spanish champions last season.
The Gunners booked their place in the last 16 with a 3-1 win over Partizan Belgrade to finish as Group H runners-up and will learn their fate when the draw takes place in Nyon a week tomorrow. They can only be paired against Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or FC Schalke.
Arsenal were beaten 6-3 on aggregate by Barca at the quarter-final stage in April as Lionel Messi ran riot with a four-goal haul in the Nou Camp but Walcott insists his side fear no one this time round.
He said: "If you want to be the best, you have to play the best. We want to go that one step further — if we do get Barcelona, we don't want Messi to do what he did to us last season.
"I would love to go back there and show them what we are all about this season. We want to win silverware for the fans because they've waited too long.
"We have improved — new personnel have come in and we have players coming back from injury soon.
"As long as we don't get Barcelona on a day like when they played Real Madrid — they were fantastic that day — it doesn't matter to us, we will play anyone and try to win the game."
Walcott scored after coming off the bench to make it 2-1 last night and he hopes his latest cameo will put him in line to feature from the outset against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday.
"As a substitute you want to make an impact when you come on," he said. "Hopefully I showed the boss what I can do."
