Tanguy Ndombele scored a goal-of-the-season contender to put Tottenham back in control of their Premier League visit to Sheffield United on Sunday.

Goals from Serge Aurier and Harry Kane had left Spurs 2-0 up at the interval at Bramall Lane, but a David McGoldrick header pulled the Blades back into the game.

Spurs have developed a bad habit of letting teams back into games this season, losing eight points from winning positions in the League - and McGoldrick’s goal threatened another precious lead for Jose Mourinho’s side.

However, Ndombele conjured up a piece of magic to restore Spurs’ lead a couple of minutes after they conceded.

Steven Bergwijn played him in with a chipped pass and the Frenchman, running away from goal, produced a hooked finish with the outside of his boot which lobbed Ramsdale and landed in the far corner.

It was an absolutely sensational strike from the midfielder, and came at exactly the right time for Spurs and Mourinho.
