Christian Eriksen produced two sensational free-kicks as Tottenham twice fought back from behind to rescue a point in a thrilling encounter at Swansea.
Eriksen’s stunning strikes in either half brought Spurs level with their hosts, who led first through Andre Ayew and then thanks to Harry Kane’s bizarre own-goal.
In a remarkably open game, both sides had chances to win it though Swansea were indebted to their goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who made several crucial saves. The home side came very close to taking the points in stoppage time when Hugo Lloris pushed Federico Fernandez’s header on to the crossbar.
Jefferson Montero was a constant threat for Swansea in the first half and played a vital role in the first goal. Collecting a pass from former Spurs player Gylfi Sigurdsson, the Ecuador winger eluded Kyle Walker before crossing the ball for Ayew, who took advantage of some slack marking from Jan Vertonghen to head past Lloris.
Spurs were level in the 27th minute when Fernandez was booked for a trip on Dele Alli, and Eriksen’s cleverly-struck free-kick from 20 yards deceived Fabianksi in the flight.
The Swans needed just four minutes to regain their lead, however. From his position at the near post, Kane tried to volley clear Jonjo Shelvey’s left-wing corner but was horrified when the ball sliced off his right foot and into his own goal.
Spurs piled on the pressure for the remainder of the half but had to wait until 20 minutes into the second period for their reward. Shelvey fouled Alli on the left corner of the box and Eriksen found the top-right corner with another wonderful shot.
