Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho made wholesale changes for the Capital One Cup quarter-final trip to Sunderland as he looked to the depth of his squad.

Opposite number Gus Poyet made only three changes in the wake of the 0-0 draw at West Ham as Andrea Dossena, Craig Gardner and Adam Johnson replaced Phil Bardsley, Ki Sung-yueng and Fabio Borini.

Sunderland: Mannone, Celustka, O'Shea, Brown, Dossena, Larsson, Gardner, Cattermole, Johnson, Giaccherini, Altidore. Subs: Bardsley, Ki, Cabral, Roberge, Borini, Mavrias, Dixon.
