Stoke 1 Crystal Palace 2: Eagles confirm Premier League survival by relegating Potters

Crystal Palace fought back to beat Stoke City 2-1 - a result which keeps the Eagles in the Premier League, and ensured relegation for the Potters in the process.

Stoke needed to avoid defeat in Saturday's early kick-off at the bet365 Stadium to keep their faint survival hopes alive, and Xherdan Shaqiri's deflected free-kick close to half-time sent Paul Lambert's side into the interval ahead.

However, Roy Hodgson's Palace rallied after the break, with James McArthur finishing coolly following a fine move from Wilfried Zaha and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Both sides went in search of a winner as the game opened up, but Ryan Shawcross' error allowed Patrick van Aanholt in to score the goal which keeps the Eagles in the top flight for another season.

For Stoke, meanwhile, their 10-year stay in the Premier League is over as the Potters face a rebuild next season in the Championship.
