Special Won: Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho’s outstanding record in London derbies

Jose Mourinho continued his fine run of form against London teams last night after his Chelsea side brushed aside Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Goals from Spanish duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Juan Mata sent the Blues through to the League Cup quarter-final to extend Mourinho’s extraordinary record against other capital clubs.

Out of his 40 games against teams from around London, the Portuguese tactician has won 30 games, drawing eight times and remarkably losing just twice during his two stints at the club.

If you exclude Chelsea’s defeat to Charlton on penalties in the League Cup eight years ago, the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham in the 2006/07 season remains his only major reversal, with Spurs claiming their first Premier League win since 1990 on that occasion.

Mourinho maintains a 100 per cent record against West Ham, Crystal Palace and Watford - and after Tuesday night’s result, Arsene Wenger is still without a win against his title rival, nine years after his arrival in England.
