Former France forward Christophe Dugarry believes Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba would be an "ideal" signing for Real Madrid.

Pogba has long been admired by Los Blancos and was wanted by coach Zinedine Zidane last summer, only for the player to remain at Old Trafford.

He is likely to be a target for the Spanish side again during the next transfer window.

"We have all seen that their midfield has grown a little old," Dugarry told RMC Sport. "It's a midfield that struggles to break the lines and get on the end of crosses.

"Pogba knows how to do that. For me, he's ideal because of what he would bring to Real Madrid."

Pogba turned 27 last month and Dugarry thinks the time is right for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

"It has been a difficult year for him, with injuries and what have you," he said. "The team is not doing well, but every time he has played, he has reached his level.

"Knowing Zizou, if he is in love with Pogba, there is no reason to wait another year."
