Gareth Bale’s agent insists the forward is not going to return to the Premier League this summer despite seemingly having fallen out of favour at Real Madrid.

The Welsh forward has been missing for many of Madrid’s most crucial games in what has been another season disrupted by injury and started the Champions League knockout games against Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus on the bench.

Indeed in the quarter-final first leg he did not even make it onto the pitch and in total Bale has made just 21 starts for Madrid and 10 further appearances off the bench, though in those games he has scored 14 goals and provided eight assists.

The former Tottenham forward was criticised by Jorge Valdano despite laying on Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal in a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Saturday, with the ex-Madrid player and director saying “nothing that Bale does is worth €100 million, and that is the figure he wears on his jersey.”

Bale has long been linked with a move back to England, with Manchester United most consistently mentioned as a suitor along with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham.

“Gareth is a Real Madrid player and loves Real Madrid and Real Madrid love Gareth,” Barnett told ESPN FC.

“All this talk about leaving is written by reporters who have no idea what is going on and who need to write something and don't care if it is true or not.”
