Radamel Falcao has revealed he wanted to sign for Chelsea years ago, but was unable to make the move to Stamford Bridge until this summer.
The Blues completed a season-long loan move for the Colombia striker from Monaco earlier this month after Falcao had spent last season on loan at Manchester United.
Although he only scored four Premier League goals during his time at Old Trafford, it was the striker's rich return during his spell at Atletico Madrid and, before that, Porto which earned him the reputation of being one of the most feared forwards in the world.
Falcao was expected to join a top European side following his two years in Madrid, but the Colombian ended up signing for Monaco in 2013.
And despite then going on to sign for United on loan the season after, Falcao has now revealed he always had his heart set on joining Chelsea.
Speaking in his first interview since signing for Jose Mourinho's side, Falcao told Chelsea TV: "I talked with Juan [Cuadrado] before I came to Chelsea but I had decided I would like to join Chelsea some years ago.
"The media talked about me and Chelsea and it was not possible but this summer finally I come."
"He [Ricardo Carvalho] spoke with me about the club and told me how big is Chelsea and that he had a very good time here.
"He enjoyed it a lot and he is grateful to the team. He is also a very good defender."

Falcao is expected to make his debut for the Blues when Chelsea take on Barcelona in the International Champions Cup in the US next week.
