Premier’s elite fail to impress in Europe poll

Premier League players have been snubbed for the second time in a month with no one from the top flight featuring in UEFA website’s team of the year.

Based on 5.3million votes cast by users of the site, this is the first time in 12 years there has been no Premier League presence in the side and follows an absence of England-based players in FIFA’s team of 2012.

The FIFA XI were all from Spain’s top division but there are three non-La Liga players in the UEFA side.
