Arsenal star Granit Xhaka will face no further action over alleged racist comments made to a Heathrow airport worker last month, police have today confirmed.

The Arsenal midfielder was interviewed under caution on 23 January after a third party alleged the 24-year-old had racially abused a member of staff at Heathrow's Terminal Five.

It followed an argument, which broke out as Xhaka attempted to drop his fiancée’s brother off at the airport for a flight.

He is alleged to have called a member of British Airways' staff a "f***ing white b****", but he denied the incident.

Xhaka voluntarily attended an interview at a west London police station where he was then questioned, but was not arrested.

The Metropolitan Police have now told Standard Sport that he was released without any further action following enquiries into the incident.

"Police were called at 19:29hrs on Monday, 23 January following an allegation that a member of staff had been racially abused at Heathrow Airport, Terminal Five," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson told Standard Sport in January.

"The allegation was made by a third party.

"Officers attended and spoke with a man in his 20s. He was not arrested. He voluntarily attended a west London police station where he was interviewed under caution."

The incident came just days after Xhaka received his second red card of the season in Arsenal's last-gasp 2-1 win over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium, for which he served a four-match ban.
