Phil Parkinson wants more fight

Ian Gibb11 April 2012

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson condemned his men for a lack of desire after they crashed 4-2 at home to Swindon in front of new owners and new chairman Michael Slater.

Though Slater has denied he wants Dennis Wise as manager, Parkinson didn't do his cause much good as this performance revived memories of the 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Brighton at The Valley in October.

Charlton took the lead through Johnnie Jackson despite claims from Swindon of handball in the build-up but the visitors equalised through Matt Ritchie in the 41st minute.

From there, Charlton were second best and fell 4-1 down before Pawel Abbott notched a late consolation.

Parkinson said: "I have to say Swindon showed more desire in our box to get on the end of things.

"When the ball went in their box there was too many free headers by defenders."
