Petr Cech’s agent has moved to dampen speculation surrounding his client’s future at Arsenal after the goalkeeper’s recent struggles.

Saturday’s miskick to hand Chelsea the third goal in a 3-1 win over Arsenal was the latest error made by the 34-year-old this season, including a high-profile mistake in a 2-1 defeat at Manchester City in December.

Arsene Wenger has insisted in the past that Cech could be Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper for several years and denied interest in signing Manchester City's Joe Hart when reports appeared on Thursday evening.

Standard Sport understands that Arsenal have targeted Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as a potential rival for Cech but Viktor Kolar insists the goalkeeper will be at Arsenal at least until his contract expires in 2019.

“Petr’s position at the club is very secure and a summer transfer can be ruled out,” a statement to reporters in the Czech Republic said.

“Petr will be part of Arsenal until at least the end of his current contract and I am convinced that he will continue to have a leadership role in the team.”

It has also been suggested that Wenger may consider dropping Cech for Saturday’s visit of Hull, to which the Arsenal manager said: “It’s difficult to come out individually.

“Petr Cech is a guy who is serious, wants to do well, he prepares well. Overall he’s had a good season.”
