Fulham manager Roy Hodgson today revealed he had turned down an offer to become Norway's new manager.

Earlier this week Hodgson ruled himself out of contention for the same post with Sweden after former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson had turned down his countrymen.

And now he has told the Norwegian FA he is happy at Fulham and will honour his current contract which runs until the end of the season.

Fulham chief executive Alistair McIntosh yesterday returned from holiday and is expected to begin immediate talks with Hodgson about a new deal. The 62-year-old, who has coached Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and Finland, said: "It is very flattering when people come asking about your availability.

"I've never ruled out returning to international management. That is still an open door, although your reputation is only as good as your current results. At the moment I think my stock with Fulham is high because we are doing the best we can at the club. But who knows in the future if a few results go against us. Anyway, I'm very happy at Fulham."

Hodgson led Switzerland to the 1994 World Cup, their first appearance in the finals since 1966, and narrowly missed out on qualifying for Euro 2008 with Finland. He also coached League teams in both Norway and Sweden.

Hodgson revealed that Danny Murphy, who will miss tomorrow's Europa League tie with Roma, will have tests on a groin injury which could lead to an operation.
