Millwall manager Neil Harris today asked for patience from supporters as the club look to bounce back from relegation.

The Lions are seeking an immediate return to the Championship and will start the season among the favourites for promotion in League One.

Harris said: “We know there is that expectation level among the supporters. As a group, we ask for patience because we are a new group, with a lot of young players. But we are fully prepared for the expectations.

“We will be doing our best to bounce back. We are building here for a long-term future, to be pushing at the top of the Championship and for the Premier League. It won’t happen overnight but we will take small steps.”

Harris has told fans to expect a “Millwall team of old” this season, adding: “We want to rebuild that relationship between the supporters and the players. Fans here need to identify with their team. You will see a Millwall team of old on the pitch; a team full of energy, full of running, pace, a team that is competitive. We’ll be physical, but we can play as well.”
