Neal Ardley has urged AFC Wimbledon's players to "show why they are wearing the shirt" in tonight's League One clash with MK Dons.

The south Londoners host Robbie Neilson's men at Kingsmeadow aiming to inflict defeat on the club spawned from the controversial decision to allow Wimbledon FC to relocate in 2002.

Ardley's side are three points and four places in front of their foes in the table ahead of the game, despite winning just two of their last 10 fixtures in England's third tier.

Wimbledon suffered a 1-0 defeat at Stadium MK in the first League meeting between the two sides last December and Ardley is determined to ensure his charges do not suffer a similar 'no show' on home turf.

“We have got to turn up and we didn’t in the last game,” Ardley told AFC Wimbledon's official website.

“It’s as simple as that. We did not perform at all and I cannot put my finger on why.

“The boys have got to turn up and have a go. That is all we ever ask for and all the fans ask of them.

"To have a right good go at winning every game and to show why they are wearing that shirt. That’s what we have got to do.

"With the qualities we’ve got, if we turn up and we are at it, we will give anyone a game,” Ardley added.

Ardley has also confirmed several Wimbledon players are facing late fitness tests ahead of kick-off.

Centre back Darius Charles is nursing a hamstring problem and Tom Soares has an ankle problem while Dean Parrett picked up a knock in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Northampton.

Wimbledon have played Milton Keynes on four occasions and have won one just once, with Adebayo Akinfenwa's late goal in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie proving to be decisive in 2014.
