Mikele Leigertwood up for QPR test

Mikele Leigertwood is sure Reading will put their Arsenal nightmare behind them when they play Queens Park Rangers in Sunday’s battle of the strugglers.

Reading threw away a four-goal lead on Tuesday as they crashed out of the Capital One Cup 7-5 to the Gunners.

Now their focus is on the game at Loftus Road, where both sides will be searching for their first Premier League victory of the season.

Reading did, however, win there in the League Cup in September and Leigertwood is hopeful of getting one over his former club again. The midfielder said: “Arsenal are a good side and if we don’t do the stuff that we’re good at, then we’ll get punished — unfortunately that was the case in the second half.

“The QPR match will be a test but we’ve shown time and time again that we can bounce back. There’s no reason why we can’t go and get a positive result on Sunday.

“They’ve spent a lot of money over the summer but things aren’t clicking for them. But we’re not worried about them — we focus on ourselves.”
