Michael Dawson has surgery on Achilles injury

11 April 2012

Tottenham have confirmed defender Michael Dawson has undergone surgery on his Achilles injury.

The centre-back, 27, has not featured for Spurs since the 5-1 home Barclays Premier League defeat against Manchester City on August 28.

Spurs had initially been hopeful the England international would not be set for an extended spell on the sidelines, but he could now be out until January.

A statement on the club's official website, www.tottenhamhotspur.com, read: "Michael Dawson has today undergone surgery to his right Achilles tendon to assist with his recovery.

"Medical staff are pleased with his progress and he will be reviewed by the surgeon in early December, at which time a date for a return to full training will be determined."
