The city of Manchester can celebrate a double title success this week as United have been crowned Premier League champions... of Instagram!

Just two days after Man City were crowned Premier League champions of football, Manchester United risk overshadowing their 'noisy neighbours' with the social media accolade.

United have racked up 631 million 'likes' during the course of the season, averaging around 373,000 per image, which is a considerable increase on City's 158m likes and average of 160,000. City drop out of the top four altogether.

United's managing director Richard Arnold, who in September highlighted the club's 4.9 rating in Apple's App Store, will no doubt be delighted.

Perennial bridesmaids Liverpool are handed further heartbreak as another piece of silverware goes begging with their runners-up spot.

They posted 72 more times during the season than United, but the engagement wasn't there when it mattered.

Arsenal sneak into the top four and will now, presumably, be looking to bolster their squad ahead of a tilt at the Champions League of Instagram.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are sixth in the ranking and risk missing out on European Instagram altogether.
