Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has warned Manchester United target Memphis Depay against a move to Old Trafford this summer.

The Netherlands international has been linked with a move to United to team up with former international manager Louis van Gaal.

But reports this morning suggested Liverpool have entered the race for the 21-year-old.

Depay has scored 20 league goals in 27 starts this season at PSV and the Eredivisie club have revealed three big clubs have made an approach for the Dutch star.

But Kuyt has urged Depay to snub United in favour of game-time.

“I look through red glasses, because I've played six years for Liverpool. Only when Memphis does that, he will realize how big Liverpool are,” The former Red told De Telegraaf.

“Of course it would be an advantage at Manchester United because he knows the manager. On the other hand it is important at his age that he plays every week. That’s the only way he can develop.”
