Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan could leave Manchester United in the January transfer window, with Arsenal a possible destination.
Mkhitaryan signed for United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2016, but has twice fallen out of Mourinho's favour at Old Trafford.
The Armenia international recovered after being frozen out early on during the 2016-17 season to have a prosperous season for United, scoring in the Europa League final victory over Ajax.
The 28-year-old started the 2017-18 campaign brightly with goals and assists, but a loss of form has seen him struggle for game time in the winter months.
Standard Sport reported earlier on Monday that United were willing to let Mkhitaryan join Arsenal as part of a potential deal to bring Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford, and Mourinho subsequently dropped the playmaker from his squad to face Stoke in the evening.
Mourinho said before the match that he would be "lying" if he said leaving out Mkhitaryan was a "pure tactical decision," with some players finding it difficult to concentrate "...when there are doubts about his future".
Following the 3-0 victory, Mourinho said of Mkhitaryan: "He is our player so I can speak about him.
"He has a lot to offer us. Is he going to be involved in leaving us?
"It is possible. The market is open."
As for Sanchez, Mourinho told BBC Sport: "No news on Alexis Sanchez, he is an Arsenal player, if he stays it's great for Arsenal, if he comes to us, great for us, if he goes to another club, great for them."
