Manchester United hope to have Jesse Lingard back in contention for a crucial run of fixtures after the international break.
Lingard hasn’t played since the EFL Cup defeat to Derby last month, following inflammation of the groin.
United’s medical staff determined the 25-year-old needed rest to fully recover from the injury, which it is understood has been an issue since returning from pre-season.
Lingard has missed United’s last three games as he undergoes treatment – and was also unavailable for selection for England’s Nations League games against Croatia and Spain.

It is hoped the two-week period of recuperation will see him return to play some part in a series of pivotal games for Jose Mourinho’s side when the domestic calendar resumes.
United face Chelsea on October 20, and back-to-back games against Juventus in the Champions League as well as the Manchester derby before the next international break.
Meanwhile, United are still assessing Luke Shaw after the left-back had to pull out of the England squad due to a knock received in last week’s 3-2 win against Newcastle.
Shaw reported to St George’s Park on Monday, but was sent back to Carrington for treatment.
While the issue is only considered to be minor, sources close to him say it is too soon to confirm if he will be available to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
United already have doubts about Nemanja Matic, who had to withdraw from Serbia’s squad with an unspecified injury and is back at Carrington for rehabilitation.
