David Luiz escaped a potential red card against Manchester City after the Chelsea defender blocked off Sergio Aguero in the first half ot the Etihad Stadium clash on Saturday.
Cesar Azpilicueta played a poor backpass 29 minutes into the Premier League tie around 40 yards from Thibaut Courtois, and City striker Aguero looked to be in as he accelerated towards goal.
But City fans were left furious as Luiz appeared to body-check Aguero to the floor as he cut across the forward, with referee Anthony Taylor controversially waving away their appeals for a foul.
Pep Guardiola sprang up in a rage on the touchline as the Etihad Stadium loudly booed the decision - chanting "You're not fit to referee" at Taylor - with Luiz escaping a potential dismissal given that a foul would have resulted in him denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity as the last man in defence.
