Manchester City suffer blow as Joleon Lescott is ruled out for a month

11 April 2012

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has been ruled out for "four to five weeks" with a hamstring tendon problem, according to manager Roberto Mancini.

City had initially hoped to have the £24million defender back for next Monday's home clash with Wigan after he limped out of the warm-up at Fulham with hamstring trouble.

However, a scan has revealed Lescott's injury is related to his hamstring tendon, which can be more serious, and the extent of the problem was revealed after the England international travelled to London for a further assessment.

"Joleon, I think, is out for at least four weeks with a problem with the muscle tendon," said Mancini.

"He went to see a doctor in London and he said it will be four or five weeks before he can come back.

"We are unlucky because Joleon is an important player for us."
