Mamadou Sakho has apologised to Liverpool supporters after he opted to leave Anfield ahead of the Merseyside derby on Saturday.
The France international was pictured leaving the stadium before kick-off after learning he had not been included in Brendan Rodgers' matchday squad.
Sakho had made three Premier League starts in Liverpool's first five games, but could not even secure a place on the bench for Everton's visit.
"I really want to apologise to the club, the supporters and every person who felt offended when I left the stadium this afternoon," he wrote on Twitter following the game.
