Swansea have confirmed that midfielder Leon Britton will be in charge for Saturday’s league game at Crystal Palace.

The Swans sacked Paul Clement after a run of six defeats in eight top flight games that left them propping up the Premier League, four points off safety.

Whilst the likes of Tony Pulis, Ronald Koeman and Louis van Gaal have been linked with the permanent vacancy it will be Britton, who has played over 500 games for the club in every division from League Two to the Premier League, in the dugout on Saturday.

Swansea confirmed in a statement on the club website: “Britton, who stepped into a player-coaching role last month after 15 years at the club, will be assisted by under-23 coaches Gary Richards and Cameron Toshack. Goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts will also continue to assist.

“The quartet took training this morning and Britton will face the media at 1pm this afternoon.”
