Leicester City want to sign Watford captain Troy Deeney if Jamie Vardy joins Arsenal.

The Foxes still hope Vardy will turn down a £20million move to Emirates Stadium but they have lined up Deeney as a replacement should he decide to leave.

Watford, though, are determined to resist any interest in Deeney this summer.

The 27-year-old scored 13 Premier League goals this season and losing him would be a huge blow for new manager Walter Mazzarri.

Deeney is known to be happy at Vicarage Road but it remains to be seen whether he would be tempted by the lure of Champions League football with Leicester.

Claudio Ranieri has made the forward one of his summer targets as he looks to strengthen the side that won the Premier League title.

Deeney has formed an impressive partnership at Watford with Odion Ighalo, who is also expected to attract interest from other clubs this summer.
