Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has urged Manchester United to exercise patience as Jose Mourinho sets about rebuilding the team.

Drogba had two spells under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League and seven domestic cup titles.

The Ivory Coast international left the Blues at the start of the 2015/16 season - a campaign which saw Mourinho sacked as Blues boss after the club made their worst start to a season in the Premier League era.

Mourinho was subsequently appointed Manchester United boss during the summer and tasked with bringing back the success of the Sir Alex Ferguson years following the failed tenures of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

Drogba, however, has launched a staunch defence of his former manager and insists the manager

He told RTL: “He’s not a has-been.

“I think that it’s a very big challenge for him. I think he has to take some time to build a team.”
