James Tomkins says he'll 'play anywhere' for Crystal Palace after shift to right-back

James Tomkins says he is happy to continue playing at right-back as Alan Pardew searches for his best back four at Crystal Palace.

Tomkins switched from centre-back in the 3-0 win against Southampton on Saturday and helped Palace keep their first clean sheet of the season.

Palace have had defensive problems this campaign but a resolute rearguard display helped end a run of six straight defeats.

Tomkins is likely to play at right-back again at Hull City on Saturday, with Damien Delaney set to continue alonside Scott Dann at centre-back.

Tomkins said: “I will play anywhere for the team. I have played there before with West Ham but to play there for the first time this year is still a little bit different.

“Physically it is a lot more different than playing centre-back.”
