James Tomkins hopes Tottenham will still be feeling the effects of their Champions League exertions against Real Madrid when they face his Crystal Palace side on Sunday.
Spurs beat Real Madrid 3-1 on Wednesday night and host Palace in a midday kick-off.
Tomkins knows Palace face a difficult test against a Tottenham side who will be on a high after that result, but the defender said: “They had a game on Wednesday and hopefully, physically, they might be feeling the effects of it.”
Palace go into the game with added belief, following their 97th-minute equaliser against West Ham last weekend.
Tomkins said: “We have got massive confidence from the last game, coming back from 2-0 down.
“To get back to 2-2 takes some spirit and belief to do that. That is what we take into the next game. Spurs is obviously going to be difficult. We just have to give it our all.”
After they play Spurs, Palace then have a run of games before Christmas that will be crucial to their chances of getting out of trouble.
They face Everton and Stoke City at home after the upcoming international break, before a game at Brighton.

Palace then play West Brom, Bournemouth, Watford, Leicester City and Swansea City in December.
Tomkins said: “Throughout the whole thing the lads have remained positive, and have seemed to be in great spirit and confident that we can turn it around.
“We all have the belief we can do it. We need that in this situation.”
