Lukas Podolski insists something's 'has to change now' or Arsenal face losing him in the January window.

The 29-year-old has made just three substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, playing a combined 36 minutes of football.

And Podolski admits he is unhappy with the amount of opportunities Arsene Wenger has offered him since returning from a successful World Cup campaign with the German national team.

How Arsenal’s summer signings have fared so far

The Gunners knocked back interest in Podolski from Juventus and Wolfsburg during the summer window after Olivier Giroud was ruled out with injury, but Danny Welbeck's arrival has kept the Germany international out of Wenger's starting XI and he now seems set on change.

"I have assessed my position in the team, and it has to change now," Podolski told reporters.

"Let's see what happens in the winter. The fact is that I'm not happy with it, that's clear."

Podolski’s Arsenal contract is set to expire in 2016.
