Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is looking to this weekend’s derby with West Ham as a vital opportunity to revive the club’s Champions League chase.

Spurs’ last league fixture came at Anfield, when a late Mario Balotelli goal secured all three points for Liverpool in a thrilling five-goal game. In the tight battle for the top four in the Premier League that defeat saw Tottenham slip out of the Champions League places and down to sixth, with Liverpool just one point and one place behind.

For Lloris, defeat in such a close match was hard to take. Speaking in a short film for BT Sport’s The Supporters Club he said: “We were a bit frustrated after the Liverpool match because I think we deserved a minimum of one point, but that’s football and we lost it – but we want to bounce back and get three points against West Ham.”

In spite of the disappointment at Anfield recent months have seen a major upswing in Tottenham’s form, with new manager Mauricio Pochettino’s vision for the team taking shape. The French keeper is certainly pleased with his new boss’ start to life at White Hart Lane.

“We are in good form and in a good way and we are now at the most important period of the season and every point will be decisive for the league. It’s never easy when you [Mauricio Pochettino] start the first season at a new club but I think that he is doing really well and trying to get the best performance.”

Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris features in a new short film by BT Sport’s The Supporters Club - thesupportersclub.org. Hugo spends time with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation coach JoJo Clarke to hear his remarkable story and how the club works with looked after children and care leavers in a scheme backed by The Supporters Club and the Premier League. The short film will air on BT Sport 1 on Sunday as part of its live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United from noon.
