Harry Redknapp has revealed his desire to purchase a lower-league football club when the English game resumes following the coronavirus shutdown.
The former Tottenham and West Ham boss, 73, has been out of work since leaving Championship outfit Birmingham City in 2017.
Outlining his ambition to return to the game in a new role, Redknapp told That Peter Crouch podcast: "When we come out of this lockdown, I would like to buy a football club.
"That is my ambition. Lower level. Division one or division two, maybe even national league, but a club with some potential. I would love that – go on Saturday’s and get on the coach."
Redknapp also revealed he would try to bring Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry out of retirement if he was in charge of the relegation-battlers.
The former Chelsea and England captain retired in 2018 before being appointed to Dean Smith's coaching staff at Villa Park, but Redknapp believes he still boasts the qualities necessary to lace up his boots and steer the club to safety.
Villa - promoted via the Championship play-offs last term - currently sit 19th in the top-flight and two points adrift of safety ahead of a potential resumption.
“If I was the manager of Aston Villa and they have to play those last nine games… the first thing I would do is say, ‘John Terry, please get fit, organise them, lead them’," he said.
"I’d play him in the middle of the three at the back. He could still play for the last nine games and maybe keep them in the division."
